Speedo

Hi all,

Not long ago bought my 1988 klr 650. It is a nice bike in extremely good condition. However the speedo is faulty and the temp gauge housing is broken. Does any body know where I would be able to find either a working genuine one or an aftermarket one that fits and is suited to this model. I have been looking at the vapor ones but they apparently don't fit my model. Also why I am at it I am trying to find the sticker that goes above the headlight. Any help would be muchly appreciated.

Cheers

There are several online sites where you can order OEM parts, but they aint cheap!! Vapor wont fit? Huh? Vapor will work on any bike as far as I know.

RonAyers, Cheapcycleparts, etc. Keep looking in the for sale threads here and other sites. When someone swaps to a computer they sometimes have their stock instrument panel for sale, I know I sold mine that way...

Hi klralex77,
Welcome to the forum! Are you in the US or Canada? I have a complete cluster from a 2003 but being from Canada it is graduated in Metric. Dual kph/mph on the speed and kilometers on the odometer. Can anyone jump in on the vintage? Is there any difference from a 1988 to a 2003?
Regards....justjeff

I replaced my top cover and my speedo - I still have the old stuff, The speedo glass is gone and the speedo needs some TLC but, if you want them you are welcome to them. Need an address to send them to....items are from a 1998 klr....

The TrailTech units will work with the KLR, you just need to buy the KLR650 kit.

The vapor unit will work as noted above on all models.......it counts revolutions and spark pulses nothing more.
It is by far the best choice imho, IF you are faced with buying a new speedo for the costs involved.

TPI has this aftermarket calibrated speedometer for about $ 75:
