Whats the best way to secure for long haul ?

I will be hauling 2 KLR's on top of my truck from IL to Colorado, I was thinking of a Condor Clamp and maybe a couple of solid Turnbuckle type Bars. I don't want to compress the suspension, just wondering how everybody else does it.

I pull a KLR and a SS on a trailer behind the RV now that we are car-less. I put a block of wood between the fender and tire to keep from compressing the front forks. Two straps on the handle bars and two on the rear hand holds.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life.

Compressing the suspension is fine, but you don't really have to compress the KLR that much for it to be secure. The main thing with towing a motorcycle is to make sure the front tire is secure so the handlebars cannot rotate. Throw a couple straps on the handlebar section between the triple clamp risers to keep it from leaning side to side, then secure the back and your all set.

If youre klrs have centerstands, getting them secure is a piece of cake. Frame mount your tie downs and tension them on the centerstand. This is easily done without compressing the suspension. I have more trouble, and stress getting mine up and down from the truck than securing them.
