Need replacement of Radiator Shroud

Greetings Guys,

I've owned my 1999 from the start and still love the bike. Unfortunately the manufacturer no longer offers some of the plastic parts for the older KLR's. I'm looking for the right radiator shroud, no matter what color.

I ended up contacting OZ Used Motorcycle Parts; they put out a national search. Two weeks with no results.

It amazes me Kawasaki no longer offer parts. If anyone has any idea's I'd appreciate hearing.

Joe. If that's a phone number under your name you'll need to add an area code.

I thought those pieces were the same through 2007. Are you certain you can't buy one for a newer old model? Looking at fiche they appear the same (thought they do have different part numbers but I wonder if thats for color)

Kyxon

Thanks for the reply.

That's a good suggestion and you may be correct. If that part is even close to fitting, from another year model, I'd certainly order a new one. Could you suggest the best way to find out what models are the same? My local dealer wasn't interested with ordering much of anything. Now that's service for you.

Thanks again.

Joe

What is your location Joe. Maybe add that to your Profile. Maybe there is someone close to you that has a newer model you can try. Pretty sure they would be the same though.

I usually go to bikebandit to compare part numbers and to 'look' at the parts on fiche. You could also try kawasaki to compare original part numbers but since they changed color they will still be different numbers. but looking at the parts on fiche they look the same to me.

Maybe you could find someone with a pre-08 model in your town and compare? Have you checked ebay? When I look over there the shrouds seem to look the same though I see different year numbers.

Thanks fellows.

I took the advice of KYXON and visited a local dealer. It turned out to be "Pappa Wheeley" Kawasaki. They were very helpful to fin out the 2000 model has the same part. As you probably know it comes in Olive Drab but that's OK with me.

Also more good news, "OZ" will refund my $125 for the used shroud they didn't find. The new version cost $88. with tax. I'm money ahead.

Once again thank fellows. Hope I can return the favor.
