i guess everybody has a bad day

last week i was on my way to work, took a corner and the rear end tryed to take off on me. surprise the rear tire went down, luckily it went slow enough for me to get it straitened out, but wasent going any further. long story short took the bike to the dealer in the morning when i got off work. aparently the factory some how got a paper clip in the tire when mounting. so the good news is that they warrentyed the repair, but was a experiance i thought i would share.

Good thing you found the problem in a corner, not a high speed curve!

I still have scars from the last time I had a bad day on my KLR. I was crusing over to a local bike shop to get a new set of brakes. Just before I got to the shop there was a 15 mph corner I've past many times. As I entered the corner the bike slid out from under me. It was so fast I had no clue what even happened. About 15 cars passed as I was picking up my bike and no one even asked if I was ok. When I picked the bike up I parked it and followed the scrapes to a pop can someone threw in the road and had been flattened waiting for a biker to pass. As soon as my front tire hit the can it was like I hit ice. It was terrible. I could see the shop after I slid through the corner. I stopped traffic to pick up the can and went to the shop bleeding everywhere to get my brakes. I almost got out with no one noticing and at the register some idiot said "do you know you have blood dripping off your arm"? Then eveybody huddled around me to ask a million questions. No major problems just a deflated ego. I took corners a little slower for awhile after that. Pain will make you remember.

Glad you are ok. I hate those crack filling tar strips they make here in Ohio.
The problem is not all of them are slippery, just the ones your not expecting to be. How about the pop can, If you were in a corner concentrating you would not see a flatened pop can.

Man what luck, good that it didn't cause you to crash, and bad that someone was so stipid to let it happen.
We will be headed through Iowa this week sometime. we are near Quad Cities now.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life.
