Alberta Winter Fun

Each year here in the snowy north there is a 24 hr Numb Bum race put on by the Alberta Endurance Ice Racing Association. 24 hours of racing no matter the weather.

Here's some pictures taken by a local guy from this years events.

Some history and info about the event can be found here. A little dated but you get the idea. Myself I didn't realize it had been around for so long. Some day would like to go and take this in but it always falls around my anniversary and the wife has other ideas. Go figure.

My Kaw Barn - 2004 KLR, 2006 Concours (sold), 1997 Bayou 400.

"It's a friggen motorcycle, it's not supposed to be comfortable, quiet or safe. The wind noise is supposed to hurt your ears, the seat should be hard and riding it should make you shit your pants every now and then. "

Thank You for posting this, I enjoyed every minute and every pic!

I guess, I must have first read about the 'Numb Bum' in about 1990!

Talked the local ATV club into a motorcycle class 'EXABITION Run', in 1991.
With-in 3 years, it was 'hotly contested'.
Insurance issues (price), and Lack of volunteer help, brought an end to our fun. About 2005.
NEVER had an insurance claim!

I was victorious a few times in both studded and un-studded classes.

Modify at "YOUR OWN RISK"!

Still riding my 1987 KL650-A1. 85,000+ miles & counting

and here I thought that Canadians just watched hockey, my bad! looks like a helluva lot of fun, dunno if I could get used to studded tires, just the thought of wiping out and someone running you over sends chills down my back

A KLR is not a motorcycle, it is a blank canvas with which to paint the rest of your life.
