Fun places to ride near Chicago?

Ok...I think I'm sold on a new KLR, are there any mild trailes within 100 miles of chicago?

Thanks in advance

I would think you could find some around the lake.

Well, if you want to hike it up to South Central Wisconsin (right around 100 miles away from Chicago proper) you can ride the Cheese Country Trails. They're kinda boring/flat/heavily patrolled if you're speeding, but they'll give you a taste..

Also, some of the trails are ATV only, so be aware of that fact. Motorcycles are forbidden on many of the offshooting club trails.

In reality, just wander around in the country and find gravel roads for the same affect with higher speeds.

this is what I do. its fun to just see some random road, and get that feeling a little kid has when you explore it.

EXACTLY!!!

As a kid and new rider (man, that was almost 25 years ago) I loved to explore roads with no point of direction other than I needed to go home at some time.

After a couple years of local riding when I was underage, I started to explore out a few hundred miles by the time I was 19..

Now at 42, I still go out wandering, and often it's in search of cool gravel roads..
