Parabellum windscreen

I have been looking at the Parabellum windscreens. I searched windscreens here on the forum and did not see what I am looking for. So here we go. When a manufacturer says they have a 25" windscreen is there anyway that I can position myself on my bike, take a tape measure, and get a ruff idea as to how tall the windscreen will be when installed ? The best way would be to pull out the appropriate length of tape out of the tape measure and place the end on the seat and bring the other end up toward my face. is that possible ? If is not what would be the best way to determine where the top edge of windscreen will end up ?

My suggestion: Abandon all your measurement strategies.

Why?

Because, every rider is unique, as to height, riding position, physical proportions, and preferences. Each windscreen has its own definite characteristics. The only way I know to evaluate and reconcile a given rider and a given windshield's performance characteristics is: Try it out!

Some may like a particular shield; another may experience intolerable buffeting from the same product.

I'm 5'-11: My TPI screen suits me fine, but . . . the 6'-2" guy I bought if from couldn't STAND it; buffeted him right in the face.

So, try before you buy, if you can--if not, be prepared to re-sell and try again!

Call them.

I cannot find any mention of what year KLR you have in your profile or any of your posts. My experience is with the first-gen KLR and the "revised" (2013) Parabellum windshield.

I ordered the next-to-tallest one based on what was on their web page. On a test ride it was like getting kicked in the head. I had to put my chin over the gas cap to get anything like mild pandemonium. Their revised windshield connects to the subframe at a single point on each side and is supported by the tupperware elsewhere. Not enough. The windshield flexed and twisted.

When I called, the woman at Parabellum asked about my height, the height of the windshield, and where the top of the windshield was in my field of vision. She determined that I had the correct windshield and authorized a return.

You may be able to get specific measuring instructions on the phone before ordering.

They were honorable in taking the thing back, but trying to support that much windshield on the flexible plastic of the 1st-gen KLR is just negligent.

I put a 20+" winshield on my 650 I don't think it was from this company but it mounted down to the steel frame in 2 spots and the factory windshield holes. But it mounts on the inside. It ended up breaking the metal framework on both sides of the front fairing. snapped the welds on the one side and twisted and cracked the tube on the right side. Just something to think about.

I am 6'1" and I ordered a Cee Bailey adjustable W/S at 23". Easy install but a bit pricey. Perfect!
