Off Brand Motorcycle Question

Around Eastern Kentucky I have been seeing a bunch of off brand motorcycles being sold. There are several that look like my KLR but they are only 200 cc models. Several of the brands are called Roketa, Roadmaster, and I think Tank is the other brand. Are these bikes worth the small $1200 price tag? I dont know anyone that owns them. They look like really nice bikes and I know they are from Korea, Japan, and other countries just like the KLR. All help appreciated. Thanks.

I have only seen them on Ebay. They seem to have a warehouse where you can order parts, but short of that I know nothing about them. The old addage says: "You get what you pay for." I have learned to believe that wholeheartedly.

Previous ride was a 2007 KLR Black/Silver, I miss it..
Looking to get back into KLR's sometime soon.

They're typically Chinese copies of Honda bikes that are imported and sold here cheaply..

I've known a few people who have them and they tend to be OK bikes, but as mentioned, you get what you pay for. They're cheaply made, and the quality of welds and such are pretty crappy.

I have a 150cc Chinese scooter and it is what it is.. I don't expect Honda quality when I paid $1300 for it brand new, delivered..

I keep an eye on stuff, and it's been fine, but I wouldn't rely on it as my only mode of transportation.

I got the Roketa brand for a kid.

They are essentially a knock off of the old Honda XR 200 with electric start.
The engines are good but everything else needs watching. As Paper said, the welds need to be looked at close. The mounting bolts should be replaced with higher quality. Oil should be changed right away as they come with something like veg. oil. Tires are cheap so also need to be watched.
On the whole they are good for what you pay. You should be handy with a wrench but if you own a KLR that should be no problem.
I took all of the plastic off that I could and now it looks good and is easier to work on.

There is a forum that helps a little: chinariders.net

The guy I sold my kid's Super Sherpa to had a Yumbo (I'm not clever enough to make this up) 200, a DS kind of thing. I rode it around the block. It was different. I'd recommened buying used Japenese at this time if on a low budget.
