In the ballpark

I've got an 07' that I bought brand new and paid cash for. My insurance is just over $400 a year for full coverage through Geico.
Lots of stuff can affect your rate (years licensed, tickets, age, where you live)
to me $400 was a deal, I'm paying $1100 per year for my truck

Check out Dairyland. I'm currently insuring my Wing, Strom, KLR, and Scooter together, for only a touch more you were quoted. Since we're both in IL, I'd think your quote on the KLR would be $130 or so, depending on your age and driving record.

I have my bikes with Dairyland, and the rest of my stuff with State Farm. State Farm has always been double or more of what Dairyland has quoted me.

Also, if you're an AMA member, or have taken the ERC course, be sure to mention it for the discounts that comes with them.

If they don't work for you, check around.. There's some deals to be had with some of the companies.

Tom...DairyLand is "Sentry Insurance"...it's their P/C arm and they have terriffic rates on bikes. It's where I have all my scoots.!!

Give them a jingle.

Also Markel out of Wisc. is also very good.

I had most of my Beemers thru them.

Hunt around - you'll find where you are supposed to land.

Of topic, but funny anyway..

A few years back I was at the BMWMOA National Rally in Lima, OH. Sentry Insurance was there and they had a promo where they were giving away a custom chopper.
Everyone was tossing in entries to the give away, and I asked the one guy how much my insurance was going to be when I won the chopper??

His reply?? "Oh, sorry, we don't insure custom motorcycles."

And he was serious..

My mother found this pretty funny, since she's my Dairyland (Sentry) agent.
