2009 front wheel swap

I just purchased a 2009 KLR. I never noticed it has a dent in the front wheel rim. I have located a 2008 front wheel on eBay do you think this will fit the 2009 bike? Thanks

New question: I live in Texas. At a legal 80 mph, while overtaking at aprox 83mph (lol) the bike does a scary "death wobble" I have yet to fit the new true wheel, and new Kendo 70/30 tires. Has anyone else experienced this wobble with a normal front wheel? Do I need to fit a steering damper? I am 56 but I still ride like 17, the wobble must go. Thanks...

Ummm, if your old wheel is bent or out of true I definitely wouldn't be going those speeds on it! My 08 KLR has no wobble to it all the way up to 160 KPH (100 MPH) as indicated by the speedo. My speedo is out some so I'm guessing that I'm actually going around 90 or 95 MPH.

650Stew, what handguards, if any, do you have? Do you have a fender brace? What tires do you run?

Stock hand guards, stock front fender and no brace. I'm running Avon Gripsters. I've never hit any kind of wobble up to max speed of the bike. Maybe it's the tires?

Wobble

I'd also check the tire pressure.
I was carrying 21 in front, and noticed a slight tendency to wobble if I tried to make it do it. After increasing my pressure to 25 in front, it was a little harder to make it wobble. Still will if I try, but more stable now.

2009 wobble

I am waiting for new Kenda tires and a 2008 good front wheel to arrive. I believe mudguard and hand guards are stock. You mentioned a brace? Does mudguard "wiggle" at speed? I noticed road markings/ cross winds would seed the wobble

when you get the rim/hub assembly, double check that the hub (spedo side) hasn't been damaged previously by incorrect reassembly.
