Help me decide

Down to three rear tire choices now. Local prices are

1. Kendra 761
2. Pirelli Scorp Trail
3. Metzler Tourance

The kendra is less than half the price of the Pirelli and the Metzler is 50 more than the Pirelli.

With the K761 being so cheap, does that mean it does not last long?

Do a forum search. There are lots of folks using the Kenda 761, myself included.

They are great tires for my use. Last rear I got over 16,000 km (10,000 miles) out of it and there was still some left when I removed it before going on a trip. Have another set in the garage waiting to be mounted.

That sounds great and similar to my gripster life. Any idea why they are so cheap?

I've been running Kenda tires on my Mtn bikes for years and have found no reduction in life or performance. I imagine name has a lot to do with it.

I wouldn't want to start a tire feud, but if you can find a friend that has 761's on their bike see if he'll let you take it for a spin. You'll notice huge handling differences between the Avon's and the Kenda's

As in better handing moving to the Kendas or worse? I have only had two sets of gripsters I am not familiar with any other brands or tires.

I wouldn't say better or worse, but definitely different. I have ridden both and prefer the Gripsters. Just my opinion though, lots of people run the 761's and love them.

Oh YA!! it's on mister!!!!

I had two KLR's at one time. One had Kenda's and one had Gripster's. I rode them both and really never noticed that much of a difference. I am less of a hooligan than Stew so that may be why.

I'm not saying I didn't like the Gripster's. They were great tires but factoring in the cost difference didn't make them a feasible replacement. I can get a set of Kenda's for the price of one Gripster.

Kenda's made in Korea, Gripster's in England. There's your major price difference factor.
