Tripping about oil...

I know everybody likes to talk about oil. The other day I was out for a long ride and I forgot to take extra oil. I was low when I started. So, I stopped and got some Havoline 10w-30 at the old Chevron (all that was available). I put 2/3rds of a qt in maybe? The rest is Rotella. Now, I expected that this wouldn't make a difference one way or the other. BUT, it seems like the bike is running better. Or I'm tripping.

Thoughts? Conjectures? Want to admit you dosed my coffee?

Oil

Obviously it needed a little snack. I always perk up after my donuts, and coffee.

I think I figured it out. I forgot I dumped some seafoam in last time I rode (before the oil ride). My brain doesn't work as well as it used to. Bike is running better, though. Gotta love the seafoam.

There's no harm leaving the Havoline in is there? I can never remember the meaning of the JASO and the whatnots.

I run dino MC oil in my KLR. I use dino Rotella in some vehicles and motorcycles. I can't tell any difference.
I wouldn't run automobile oil in a bike, but my buddy does. He has about 22k, hasn't checked his valves, hasn't touched his doo, aftermarket exhaust without richening his carb. His bike still runs OK, but I wouldn't do it.

I always buy 10-40, not 10-30...always heard that 10-40 did not have the same additives in it that 10-30 had that were bad for the clutch. I dunno for sure...just what I read. I have run Valvoline 10-40 and Castrol 10-40 "car" oil in bikes for many years, never had a problem. Never tried 10-30 car oil.

Although Rotella T 10w30 is marketed as a diesel oil, it meets JASO DH-2, MA, MA2 so is technically a motorcycle oil.

Don't know of any maintenance issue traceable to running API Service Code and viscosity recommended by Kawasaki.

Further, don't know of any KLR650 clutch turning into a pumpkin at midnight because "friction modifiers," or "energy-conserving" may have been involved in the lubricant used. Kawasaki doesn't warn of these allegedly dire perils, regardless!
