gen1 kickstand on a gen2

So a gen1 kickstand is fairly easy to make adjustable, on account of it's straight. Will a gen1 kickstand work on a gen2 bike? A 2013 to be specific. I would much rather make my own adjustable kickstand than pay for an aftermarket one.
