Night Riding

Finally had some reasonable night weather, it's 57 degrees. My favorite time to road ride is at night. Anyone else like to go out and just cruise around and enjoy the night atmosphere? I usually head out of town away from traffic and all the lights.

Throughout summer during week days I'll take off around 11pm and get about an hour ride in, go down the river front for a bit and watch the other night owls hanging out. Usually a daily routine just to wind down.

I love riding at night, but I need to do some upgrades to the lighting, my eyes just aren't as good as they used to be. Guess a Stator will be my 08 winter upgrade this coming year, and then some good riding lights mounted down by the front fender.

Previous ride was a 2007 KLR Black/Silver, I miss it..
Looking to get back into KLR's sometime soon.

I ride 27 miles to work everynight during the week. Not much travic. When I get the time & money I'll get some lights with alittle more fire. The stock lights are not bad but still to weak.

Like night riding on good roads but dislike night riding unimproved roads because it is harder to judge the dips in the road at night. Not to mention the deer like to hang out on the roads at night.

We have a mandatory II Marine Expeditionary Force (East coast MC Headquarters) Motorcycle Club - monthly ride to get the younger riders some mentoring, chill the adrenaline a bit (these kids are in combat 7mo, home 7mo and then back in combat 7mo - they BATHE in adrenaline)... Anyway, they had a picture of a sport bike today in our pre-ride meeting with an OWL, yes the bird, in the front fairing...

I guess it is fairly common to slam an owl here in NC at night... I have hit some big bugs over the years, but a freaking Owl!

Night Riding

I have done alot of night riding. I work midnights. A round trip for me is about 75 miles a day. I work a part time a few hours during the day. When I was sationed at Pope AFB in NC I hit ether a bat or an owl one night. It hit the front of the fairing and the top of my helmet. That was a bit unnerveing. I see alot of deer on my way to work but haven't had any close calls yet. Thats all for now.
