Harley cutting back production and jobs!

I assume others have seen the news? They automatically want to blame the economy, which I'm sure has plenty to do with it, but they also need consider the market these days. The old Harley mystique isn't all that important these days. Then you consider most of their parts are foreign now which ruins the "American Made" concept. I think buyers are just looking elsewhere. Why pay all that extra money for a Harley when competitors have twice the bike for half the price.

Harley's mistake was holding back production in order to maintain higher prices. It's pretty stupid concept and surprised their consumer base put up with it. I remember back when I was looking they told me the waiting list was over 6 months and I just laughed my ass off and said you'll wait a lot longer then that for me to consider buying one now! Dumbasses!

Not to mention the market is flooded with harleys, everyone has one. I used to have two and I enjoyed them but the attraction for me was being unique. Have only seen a couple of KLRs around my area.

Yep, Harley riders have to stoop lower and lower to get the attention they crave these days since nobody cares or looks their way anymore.

A lot more of them are starting to get louder pipes and ride them like sport choppers. They rev them harder at stops and will blast off and make as much noise as possible in order to get people to acknowledge them. They look like utter retards desperate for attention. Growing epidemic around here.

Can't say much about a Harley..... I have been on two of them in my life....
both Sportsters, 1000cc (early 70's) and a 2008 1200cc model..

From what I recall, it took a while to get them going and it took longer to stop them.

If image is an issue and personal recognition is important to a biker, go buck naked...... even on a scooter people will stop to look at you on your bike.

Maybe it's time for Harley to make another attempt at an on/off road bike..... with the ever growing Venture Bike Rider popularity....it maybe possible to team up with a big bike namer..... say BMW (for example, maybe not) and come out with a cross over bike that attracks those that are sitting on the fence.

Just think, they could find another use for all those 883's that are getting disgarded......

Anyone care to design a new Venture bike ????

Have at er...... it's all yours

I dont crave attention and I am not an utter retard. I just happen to love motorcycle riding. My choice for street riding was my Harley. I fell back in love with dual-sport riding so I bought the KLR. I suggest you keep your comments to yourself and just love the sport of motorcycling no matter what anybody rides. Fair enough.

LMFAO I had a 00 Fatboy for 7 years and I enjoyed the ride. I have a KLR and llove the ride. I have noticed that there is alot of hatred from one group to another. What gives? I love ALL bikes but with a family and working 65 hrs a week the HD was not being used properly. I had a 3 mile commute and I would not let my bike sit out in the parking lot for 12 hours just for 5 minutes of riding. Now I have the KLR and I dont care if it gets wet, waterspots are not a problem. SHopping carts from the down the street blow over, who cares. I can ride to ride and not stress over the HD custom paint that had to be sent in for touch up if it was scratched. Klr= armor all or rattle can. FOr me It was the best for now. When I get older and the kids are grown I will get another HD. Until then why be a hater.

Well, if you read my post again you will see that I never said "ALL", so apparently I wasn't speaking about you was I? Congrats for not being like the attention seeking moron Harley riders around here.

I'll comment however I want and if "YOU" don't like it "YOU" can keep "YOUR" comments to "YOURSELF".

And I never said anything about hating anyone, let's not make shit up here.

Well , I have been here reading and thinking about HD. They sell a Brand and lifestyle ! I have access to many Nice rides. I almost bought a new Deluxe custom this spring , as my wife is very close to a dealer here. She loves to ride on the back , but not the klr.So an other bike for us or a conv. for her. Whitey hit the nail on the head, people have no respect for others property any more. I just can't leave a bike like that out all day unattended . Victory makes a nice bike that can be purchased very reasonable .S&S makes a nice motor. There is market share lost everywhere! I find that on a HD everyone WAVES! but on a KLR not everyone waves back. If you see a mean green machine in the mist of 6 or 7 HD'S riding down the road and the the RIDER is butt naked and Waving IT'S ME!....Because I am having FUN!

whether or not you love harley or hate harley, who cares? i for one dont give a damn what anyone else decides to ride, as long as your riding. what i do find sad is anyone that finds glee in another american company starting to have trouble in these uncertain times. i too think harley has made many poor decisions over the last decade or two,but cannot wish any ill will toward the american working man.
