Anyone recommend some good tires?

I'm looking to change out my tires. I don't like to admit it but most of my riding is on the street. I spend my 'get outta town' riding on logging roads, service roads, gravel and the likes of that. I don't do much trail riding......if any. Any suggestions?

New tires

I just bought some king 966's. I am having them mounted in a couple of days. They look similar to the stock dunlops but with deeper treads. They cost under $100 to the door. I will let you know how they are.

I have just fitted a set of Michelin Sirac's and reckon they are brilliant so far, excellent on the road and very good off road, in the dry anyway. They cost me $250 AUD fitted with hd tube's , which is around $230 U.S. bucks

I have been running the Avon gripsters pretty much since the bike was new. They are a great road tire, and do awesome on gravel and dirt. MUD is a no no, but then most anything isn't too good in mud short of good knobbies. I do have a Perilli Scorpion S/T coming today for the rear. It is more of a 95/5 tire, but the reviews say it is still good on gravel and hard pack. I will probably get around 7k miles on the back Avon. I do have a front Kings 966 still for sale here on the forum if interested.

Previous ride was a 2007 KLR Black/Silver, I miss it..
Looking to get back into KLR's sometime soon.

Longest Lasting front Knobby is the Pirelli MT-21 at about 4k miles. It'll clear in snot mud and handle well enough on the pavement.....The KLR Eats up rear knobbies fairly well........A get me everywhere year tire, that I only get about 2500 miles out of, is the MCE Karoo by Metzler. Decent price also for these tires above. Others like Dunlop 606, but I prefer the MT-21 rear over the 606. Just my humble opinion.

Peace,
Ricky
