Valve adjustment

Does everyone follow the 6,000 mile valve adjustment with the KLR. I was just wondering if it would hurt to let it go further than that. Any information would nice. I know what a dealer is going to say.

I had to change all four shims on mine at 6000 and my buddy had to change all four on his with one being so tight the thinnest guage would not slide between the shim and cam lobe. Yes I suggest doing it if you have 6000 miles on it. It is very easy to do and worth the time. The difference in power in my buddies bike after the valve adjustment was huge.

Valve adjustment

I have alittle over 19,000 on my 06. I was just wondering if it was safe to run it any longer. The dealer has never had to change more than 2 shims. It has been checked every 6,000 miles.

If it's been doing that well, your probably fine till 24,000. I just like knowing everything is running at its best. The old saying goes, "Slappy Valves Are Happy Valves". When yours quit slapping I would check them.
