Just Bought My KLR!

It's a green 2001, with mildly faded plastic, huge and tough-looking. I'd never been up close to a KLR until yesterday, so I had no idea just how big and burly they really are. The guy who sold it to me was seven feet tall and 250 pounds, while I'm 6'6" and 260. He'd adjusted some things to make the bike work with his height, which was a godsend for me--now I don't have to make those adjustments myself. He'd also replaced the doohickey and installed steel brake lines, as well as headlight and taillight modulators. The tires are 50/50 street/dirt, and are brand new.

It felt perfectly comfortable the moment I sat on it. I'm just barely able to swing my leg over the seat, and just able to comfortably flat-foot it. It's almost too tall for me, which is pleasantly astonishing.

All in all, it couldn't have gone better and I couldn't be happier.

An aside: I tend to go for very short women. That preference combined with this bike's monstrous dimensions will probably make for some comedy if I ever take a girl out on it. She'll either have to hang onto my shoulders while I climb on, or make a flying leap from behind. You know, come to think of it, I have just the girl in mind. She's 5'1", rather cute, and I happen to know from personal experience that she makes lovely flying leaps, on account of having once watched her do so while I held her soda mug high over my head.

Congrats on your new bike.....

You tall guys have no right to complain about being to almost able stand flat foot.......

I am 5'10' and the only way I can do that is let the air out may tires.....

Have fun on your new bike.... If you ever decide to come to Canada, to Manitoba, we can show you how to get it dirty or snowy.

best wishes
