Newbie would like advice on this bike...

My name is Jonathan.

I'm looking to buy my first klr and first dual sport bike ever...

Now I've found one 2001 klr650.

42000km (30000 miles).

Owner say it's in really good shape.

Asking 1600$

The fork is different and it's from a 250 (Maybe klx250?) as the owner says. He also telling me that the fork is doing a realy good job. Should I be worried?

Also the black chipping paint is turning me of a little...

Over all the bike look really dirty to me...

I need some advice on this bike... Does it seems like a good bike?

Could be o.k.!

You could probably part it out for $ 1600 if you wanted to.

Fork transplant not unheard of, in quests for better suspension, handling.

Better looking KLRs exist; better running? Can't say!

Looks like it's been "rode hard and put away wet." I would hold out for something better.

The 2001 was origianlly green. Looks like this one has red side covers under the black paint.

I think you can do better for that much money. Looks like a good beater if you can get the price down under a grand.
Good luck

What does your gut instinct tell you? I'd save a little more and buy better. Just my opinion. Good luck!

Take your $1600 head over to the dealer and buy a new one. See what the payments would be. Looks like you could spend as much on repairs as you would on payments. Screw it! It's only money.

The feeling of the wind in your face can lift your heart.

I'd pay $700-800 for it, but that's about it. He may have gotten his money's worth out of it, but at $1600 I doubt you would. I'd keep looking.
