First 500 miles.........and still can say wow!!

I've had the bike 12 days and 535 miles now, and I still can say I love this bike. I took the bike Sunday for a road trip to my parents house, about 75 miles one way through the Pocono Mountains in PA. Until this trip I always felt a bit uneasy at speeds over 50, the wind buffet felt wrong. I had the feeling that the wind was pushing me and the bike around. On this trip I remembered that you should sit as close to the tank as possible, what a different it made to move forward. The bike felt a whole new machine, I had the bike up to 70 with no problems. A by-product of moving forward in the seat is that my hands don't get numb any were near as much. Today I replaced the stock grips with a set of gel grips, will take the bike out for a spin tomorrow to test them.

I like the Gel gloves also. A set of handlebar risers might help to keep your arms from being extended too much.

I can remember this time last year I had just rolled over 500 miles. I bought the 07 the first week of May. I will have 9000 on it in a week or so. Yep I love riding my KLR. It only gets better!!

2008 DL650 VStrom Yellow and Black
Previous ride was a 2007 KLR Black/Silver, I miss it..
Looking to get back into KLR's sometime soon.

I'll have 22,000 on mine by the end of the week. I have an 06 . I haven't done a whole to mine. Just a center stand ,nut& bolt up grade. I have had to put a new battery in about 4 weeks ago. I plan on doing the do in about a month. I'm still on my second rear tire & third front tire.

Isn't it great?
My last two bikes were HD heavys. I think the KLR is WAY more fun. My 08 is stock but can put a smile on my face when I crack the throttle. I am thinking about some performance mods, though I know I have a lot to learn first.
