Missing Shroud Screen Insert

Hello everyone.

I am hoping that someone may be able to help a newbie. I just purchased a used 05 KLR650. Spending some time cleaning up the last owners mess and noticed a few things I missed when I purchased it in a blizzard this winter.

Looks like he put it down on the left side, as the shroud on the drivers left has been jimmy-fixed as the inner tabs had busted and are held on with wire. What it is missing is the triangular screen insert. A call to the local dealer and I was told you have to buy the whole shroud....really?

I have been searching e-bay, but no real luck yet. I'm also north of the border which is also an issue to some sellers.

I am hoping that someone who replaced their shroud(s), or their tank, might have one lying around. I'll buy the whole shroud if it's the right colour...pink....er red.

Please let me know if you may be able to assist. RIDE ON!

I owned a 1st Gen KLR that someone stole one of the shroud screens. I found out (as did you) that the screen was not available separately. I bought some plastic mesh at a craft shop (Michaels??) and cut my own out to match the shroud opening. It looked decent.

A material that's good for rough-duty mesh applications is the "Dog Proof" window screen stuff you can buy at any hardware store.
