Oil Changes?

I have an 08. I changed the oil at 1000 miles and according to the owners manual, my next should be next spring or 7500 miles.

I was just wondering what everyone else was doing. Are you just following the guide in the owners manual and do the conditions ever come into play (on road vs. off road)?

Are you changing the oil filter at the same time as the oil?

Oil and filter every 2000 miles. I was doing every 3000 but the oil looked quite dirty at that point. For the cost of 2 1/2 quarts of oil its worth keeping fresh clean oil in the bike.

Looking to get back into KLR's sometime soon.

7500 didn't seem right! Maybe I'm not interpreting the info in the owner's manual correctly. 2000 - 3000 miles sounds good.

I change my oil & filter every 6,000 miles. The oil I use is Rotella T 15/40. The oil looks pretty good. Most if not all of my miles are on the street. Alot has to do with your riding conditions. 3,000 miles is not to soon but 7500 miles I think is to long.

Changed mine last night.......2500KMs, just around the 2000 mile mark.

Oil is cheap....Engines are not.

The KLR is probabaly one easiest bikes on the planet to do an oil change. Besides frequent oil chanages give you some extra time to check the nuts and bolts, the chain whatever.

Summer finally came to Manitoba.....
