Just bought my bike with 1500 miles, probably been sitting awhile. Bike runs fine but idle fluctuates between 1200 and 1500, never seems to stay steady, bike is bone stock. any ideas???
Hey Mike, did the previous owner leave gas in the tank? Unless he put Stabil or some other gas perservative ur carb might be a little gummed up. get rid of the old gas.
I've already ran a few tanks through the bike with carb cleaner next I will clean carb, what does this 22. mod do, should I do it while I have the carb apart.
let me check, think it has something to do with the more air. have u tried running some seafoam additive to your tank that stuff is supposed to work miracles
.22 cent mod. u buy two 11 cent washers and put them on the stock needle allowing it to run a little richer, guess kawi has to really lean them out to pass EPA requirement. there is also the choice to install a KLX needle to do basically the same thing but that provides better throttle response throughout the range, 142.5 seems to be the most popular needle.
KLR.net forum has some good info and u can also google 22 cent mod. hope that helped a little
Great video that Tom found, like always.
I will have to look into that mod, but right now the KLR is running great, so I might wait until next winter. It is Spring which mean spring out of bed and get on the bike!
