The media & a dead biker

This morning I watched our local news report on a biker, in his early 30's, that "interfaced" with a cage, only to end up dead.

They had his young wife on telling how his life was riding motorcycles. She went to great lengths to tell how careful he was, and always wore all his safety gear. She even said he wore gloves that cost, around $80.00 something.
A real sad news broadcast. They had 3 young kids.

All through this broadcast, I didn't hear a word about the other vehicle. This news piece was quite long compared to their normal reports about bike accidents.

My thought was, why didn't they even mention the other vehicle. Was the other driver to blame, or was this "safe biker" to blame? It got me thinking how little the media makes of auto / bike accidents as to who was to blame. The only mention is "sometimes" they will comment if the biker had a helmet on or not. Not once do they tell if the auto driver was on a cell phone, drunk, drugs, or just not paying attention. Not once!
You never hear anything on the final outcome of these things.

Why is it they only talk about the motorcyclist. Let's put the blame where it belongs, biker or auto driver.

In the medical world us motorcycle riders, and even worse us dirt bike riders have a real bad reputation. I've had some bad injuries and been taken to the ER. Pretty much every person in there talks crap behind your back. Talk about kicking a man while he's down.
That's why whenever I encounter someone who's crashed a bike I chat with them to make them feel like a normal person again. Let them know not everyone is judging them in a bad way.

Crash's

There have been some head-on accidents in the past year. mostly cars / trucks.
Some nut-case cross's into opposing traffic. That's what scares me the most.

If you're watching all the time, you can take evasive action, but if they aim right for you coming in the opposite way you don't have much chance.

I feel your frustration, man. Bias is frustrating, but the news is never accurately reported. It is reported with an agenda. That doesn't make it right. I agree, it is suspicious the way motorcycle accidents are reported, but I generally assume that every news report I see is biased in some way. I'm not telling you anything you don't know, but, well, I do feel your pain.
