2008 vs 2009

Getting ready to buy a KLR650. Went to a local dealer and he has a Red 2008 in stock that he will part with for $5000. I really want a Blue one. He called other dealers close by and none would swap a Blue for a Red. He did find several in the Chicago area which is 300 miles away. He would have to charge for the pickup?? I know that the 2009s will be out in a couple of weeks and the dealer said price will be much more. He also said he has several on order but it may take as long a 2 months to get them. My question is are there any changes in the 2009 that would make it worth waiting for and how much of a price jump is there. Griffy

My local dealer told me they would know nothing about the 09's till sometime in Sept. when big Kaw did the dealer show for the new releases. Then their orders will take up to two months or so past that date. Noone knows what changes if any will take place.

Previous ride was a 2007 KLR Black/Silver, I miss it..
Looking to get back into KLR's sometime soon.

Seriously, the Red looks better. Not that anyone should look at resalw when you buy a bike, but the blues in this area are being sold for less than any other. People were waiting for a green or red while the blue sat on the sales floor.

2008 Klr

I had to waite a couple of months to get a green KLR. It was well worth the waite. I picked it up for $4800.00 + tax.

Got the Red one

Picked it up on the 18th and already got 500 miles on it. Dealer went on line looking for a blue one for me and only found 2 in Michigan. He did find 5 in the Chicago area but that was too far and I would have to pay for the 250 mile trip to pick it up. Nice ride and I am very happy with it so far. No vibrations, squeeks or problems of any kind. Did put my GPS on it and yes the speedo reads 10% low. Got 59mpg on my first tank of gas. griffy
