Anyone else notice this or have the same problem?

I have had a lot of dirt etc come up from between the gas tank and fairing and blow up into my helmet, and into my eyes. I have never had a bike with a fairing before. is this common, or do I need a better helmet? I have an old grant full face with the shield in place of course. I am in the market for a large good quaility helmet for 100 bux or so, is there any such thing?

I ride in some really dusty stuff, sometimes without a helmet, and have never experienced that. Weird.

Our "dirt" roads here are made of rocks of various sizes. We have virtually no mud at all. I guess I need a helmet that has a smaller hole for my neck. I used to have a nice Shoei that had a lot more padding under the chin and around the neck.

Dust

Maybe you have something strange going on with air flow. Look into how your windscreen is working, if you have one!
If not, maybe a windshield would change how the road dust flows.

What year KLR do you have? Has the front fender been modified?

It's a "new" 2013 with 1500 miles, no mods, yet!

Haven't experienced that problem.
Currently using a full face Shoei RF1100.
I guess it could be a helmet issue.
motorcyclegear.com usually has some quality helmets in their closeout section for good prices.

Maybe check out a "Z1R Phantom"!
Pretty darn good helmet for less than $100.00!
Available from "Parts Unlimited" dealers.

I had a Versys that was ridiculous about that, but the KLR isn't..

Do you have the little black triangle (ish) piece mounted near the lower triple clamp? I figure that is there to prevent this issue..

If it's factory, it should be there, I'll take a look.
