tire eating licence plate

Why would my lkr650 start eating my licence plate all of a sudden, i see nothing wrong with bike and the tire has been on since last year , no differnce in riding habits or places. first the plate was bent up now it even worse and it eat the licence plate frame. ( i do feed the bike regulary, so its not hungry)

Simple answer... the rear shock starts to soften up over time.

Mount the license plate higher by using the lower holes.

or move the license plate up where it is just under the tail light. Then cut off the stupid black inner fender. That is what I did.

The klr 650 is notorious for ripping off license plates. Do what shank said and or bend the plate at a 45*degree angle skyward. Im on my second license plate and after I bent it upward, I haven't had a problem since. READ klrFAQ here and it will tell you everything you need to know. Here's a link. Mine ate my new plate completely.
The second day after I got the bike, and a brand new plate, gone.
And it was a cool plate too, AK 69
But now it is somewhere in the desert.

Did you tighten the chain and there by move the tire further back?
I just moved my plate up and have never had a problem.

Get rid of that lame fender altogether.

Gray-haired riders donít get that way from pure luck.

I thought you meant getting rid of the outer fender and I got all excited. I got rid of my inner fender and put the plate on the outer fender.
Now I would like to replace the stock fender. I got an 06 and those fenders look goofy.
