Question KLR by next weekend!

After alot of research I've decide that the KLR is the only DS for me. I'll planning on pulling the trigger on one by this coming weekend.

My two option I've come down to:

2013 with 850 miles on it asking $4K for it

or

Brand new 2015, dealer says out the door 7K (bike 5400, shipping 1000, tax title etc 600)

My question: What would you do? Is the 2015 with its "new edition" upgrades worth it? Is the dealer screwing me or should i jump on the 2013 model?

thanks for the help, can't wait to ride

Well, the new edition stuff definitely isn't worth the additional 3K in my opinion. You can go out and scoop a Seat Concepts kit for a very reasonable price and that will sort the seat out for you, then after you ride it for a while you will be able to decide if you want to beef up the suspension a little or not.

In other words, I (just my opinion mind you) would definitely take the used one for 3K less, unless of course the warranty is very important to you. For me the warranty means nothing, I do my own maintenance and so far haven't had any problems.

I've got a coworker checking out one about two and a half hours north of Salt Lake. It's a green 2013 with approximately 1,500 miles, with the Zero Gravity taller windscreen and the Wolfman waterproof saddle bags for $4,500...

...Take off the price of the bags and the windscreen, and it's about $4,100 for just the bike. I told my coworker that it's a pretty decent deal.

As for me, I'll stick with my black 2012 Crow with just over 12,200 miles on it.

Only you can say that if the new edition upgrades work for you. The old suspension fine for my weight. I would be OK with the NE springs too. Many people, though, are heavy enough that even the NE suspension is too soft and upgraded springs are necessary. If you have to upgrade the springs then the NE springs don't really matter.

The other significant upgrade was the seat shape. Again if the upgrade works for you then it's worth something. I reshaped my own seat for about $10. I'll bet that if I had a NE seat I'd STILL reshape it.

I don't think the dealer is screwing you.

Wait. Yeah, what about the 1K shipping charge? What's up with that?
