Waving

I joined recently after purchasing my '08 KLR. I've been riding Harleys for 20 years. I have always waved at every motorcyclist I've encountered on the road. I always believed it was the joy of riding, not just riding Harleys. Of course Harley riders waved back. I am very disappointed to say that they don't all wave when I'm on my KLR. Quite frankly, it disgusts me that they are such snobs. I am enjoying this forum and those of you out there. I'm enjoying this new type of riding.

I'll do the MC wave when I'm out of town on a ride, but in town it would get a little gay waving at every single MC because there are so many. If I see a wave directed at me though, I'll raise my left hand while resting on the hand grip. Sort of a small gesture of recognition. Sometimes it's just two fingers. I have the hand guards off so it works fine. Far as Harley riders... no different then any other genre of MC rider that I've noticed.

I gotta agree..

Also, I don't get any more returned waves on my KLR than I do on my Goldwing..

Some don't know any different because they haven't ridden that long, but most feel they're too good to wave.

I wave.. Generally, if I wave, and you don't wave back, if you look closely in your mirror, my wave has changed from an entire hand, to just one finger..

I'm waiting for the guy who actually pays attention to this and turns around.. I'll glady ask if it was important enough to be concerned about a finger, why wasn't it important enough to wave in the first place?

Motorcycles give you too much time to think about this crap..

Around here solo Harley riders generally wave, when waved to.
Group Harley riders seem to good to wave.
Kids on sport bikes if they ever make it out of town will wave.
Harley riders with helmets ( I know amazing) will wave.
In town I give a head nod.
gold wing riders always wave especially if your on a wing. I can't tell if their being friendly or trying to signal for help.

Not all Harley riders are snobs, glad to see your not one of the snobs, and welcome to the D/S world. The best of both worlds on one bike. (well maybe not the BEST of both worlds, but you do get both worlds on the KLR)

Today is the first day of the rest of your life.

Funny, I have a SE Road King and find the same thing, on my KLR not as many waves as on the SERK.

I wave to all but scooters, I mean, you have to have some standards.

We had the same thread on CVOHARLEY.COM...

I wave to everybody. Regular wave to regular riders, ADV wave to other dualsports, Loser hand gesture to those I really don't like, and my favorite....several pointing gestures to my helmet to those not wearing one.

Gray-haired riders donít get that way from pure luck.

It's one finger.. While smiling.. If you don't smile, they might think you actually mean what the jesture is normally used for.
