Over 6k for an 08???

Local dealer is talkin about just over $6000 for and 08 KLR. Is it just me or does that sound a little crazy. They have it listed as the MSRP, but add "setup" fees. It sounds like BS to me. I really like the look of the 08, but I think I may go with a used 07 from a individual seller.

Any thoughts?

Setup fee's may in fact be legit...somewhat. Dealers get reimbursed for transportation and setup, maybe not 100%, but they do. Here in Oregon some dealers will charge the fee's and others don't. I go to the ones that don't charge extra for airing up the tires.

You have "dealer ships" and "stealer ships", I would look at another dealer. "Most" dealers will deal with you if they want to sell a bike, and the demand for KLR's isn't so high that you can't find a deal on a new one. Look around and you will find what you are looking for.

There is a major change in the 07 and 08 KLR, research the changes before you settle for a used 07 over an 08. You can also find used 08's out there priced right.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life.

That's outragous !
Big 4 Motosports in Marietta,Ohio just priced one for 5400 OTD .Thats tax title etc.Find another dealer,or go to ohio, get your bike and ride back to VA Beach. Great roads to ride back. You can go 50 to 250 for example. Some of the best roads in the east.believe me,you can still get one for around 5500 out the door.Ryan bought one (08) in Pa for 5000 and they delivered it to WV.I think you found a Stealership.Get on the phone and deal with them on the phone, find a deal and check it out.You can save alot of money and time calling around.let them know your serious about buying. You can get a good deal

Good Luck

Local dealers are telling me they can't even order anymore 2008's, they are selling like hotcakes in Virginia Beach area. Looks like if I go with a brand new one I'll have to wait a few months when they get in the 2009's.

went to dealer yesterday, they quoted me 7,040 for an 08 KLR, the set-up fees are ridiculous, He's throwing in a helmet, but that hardly makes up for an extra 1000 dollars in fees

If they can get that price, why wouldn't they? Sucks, but that's business when products are in demand. Buy used... there are plenty of great condition KLR's being given away at $3500

I'd probably suck at owning a dealership. I'd quote a price then tell the person it's another $100 every time you leave and come back to look at it. I call it incentive to make a decision. LOL

yeah i've found used KLR for good prices, only thing is I don't have 3500 to give someone, and my bank wont give me a loan because I'm so young. My credit score is really good, but my credit history is really short because I'm only 21. So I'm kinda stuck right now.

If you've got the credit score and a job you can get the money. Probably also need to get a new bank.
