Question Ground Sparks - Finding a short

Anyone have a good way to trace a short?

Appears my wet No Start was not water related...

Moved some wires around the battery area, traced down the starter relay - bike starts now. Took the battery out, squared away some of the wire runs to (had some pretty good rub marks on the frame from the ground and power to the starter).

But when I go to put my ground back on the battery, I get a I have a short somewhere.

So back to my question - anyone have a good way to trace a short?

Start by pulling fuses one at a time. When you don't have the battery spark, that's the circuit with the short. Go from there. You might put a tester between the batt and the positive lead to avoid sparking. Sparking is bad where any electronics are concerned

You will have a spark if the key is on or you have something drawing voltage from the battery like a cig plug with a gps hooked up, or lights.

If you still have sparks with everything off, pull all the fuses and put them back one at a time until you find the one that is allowing the spark. Then you just have to trace down what ever is on that fuse.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life.
