They made an arrest yesterday. Son of the previous Mayor and a junior firefighter. 18 charges of arson. He was on the crew that was fighting the trestle fire if you can believe it!!

Gave my 08 a good wash job after riding home from Romney yesterday afternoon. 125 miles in the rain. Was supposed to have severe thunderstorm here today so I just stayed a couple hours and headed home. Turns out it's great sunny day here! Should have stayed overnight and came home today. Oh well got a event t-shirt and made a donation to the WVA schools so it was worth the ride!

Went for a ride today. Down the back roads, in and out of ditches then back on the main road and that's when she started to cough and sputter like it was running out of gas. Switched over to reserve...nothing changed.

The bike is new to me, so I don't know what's been done to it...had planned on tearing it apart this spring and tinker with it.

I started searching in the forums about fuel starvation and tank venting...put a game plan together and started looking into it.

Vacuum line between petcock and carb seemed in good condition...no holes, cracks etc. Put it back on and removed the fuel line. Gave the vac line a little suction and lots of fuel came out...both "on" and "reserve"

Removed the fuel tank and checked the venting. No issues there.

Removed the carb vent...it's vented under the seat. No T-mod, but the line was clear.

Removed the petcock. Didn't find any issues, the screens are in good condition.

Put everything back together and rode again...no change. Opened the gas cap and rode some more...again no change. I put on half choke and it was better. Damn gotta take the carb off and apart.

Took the carb apart and found some debris in the float bowl. Took out the float, main jet and pilot jet...main jet had some debris in it as well. While I had the carb off I removed the plug for the mixture screw...damn annoying putting a cap there.

Put it back together and viola...runs like a charm.

If it wasn't for this forum, I would still be working on it. Thanks to everyone who takes the time to post.

Rode mine to work again. I'd much rather be riding someplace else besides work, but you gotta do what you gotta do!

Went for a ride and was going to have a video to post but apparently I didn't actually hit record... Could have sworn I saw the red record light going on the GoPro! Crap!

Other than that... battery in the FZ1 is officially dead. Wont hold a charge anymore so need a new one! Been thinking about those super lightweight ones.
