09 for $3500 or 13 for $3700?

Need a little help on this purchase. Would you rather have an 09 KLR with 5k miles for $3500 or a 13 KLR with 18k miles for $3700? Both bikes have similar modifications and I've been studying up on the model upgrades. It doesn't seem like a lot has been done to the bike between 9 and 13. Any thoughts?

everyone said that 08 09 has issues, and it tends to eat lots of oil.
the 13 seems expensive, i got my 2013, with 5400 miles for $3400. i would low ball the 13 to $3500 or $3400...

The '13 for a couple reasons.

1. The '09s did continue to have issues; those were addressed by the time the '13 rolled out.
2. The '13 will hold more re-sale value.
3. In the grand scheme of things, depending on your riding style, a few thousand miles really isn't any difference.

Get the '13.

There are two rules for being successful in life.

Rule 1: Never tell others everything you know.

of the two, here's another vote for the '13. There may have been very few changes in those 5 years but the early bikes have the potential for;
- oil burning; rings and/or bad bores
- wiring harness rub through
- disintegrating rubber bits
- deep hole issue

I'd buy an '09 over an '08 but I don't think your over most of that stuff till part way through 2010.

The extra $200 is a no brainer
