09's

What do you guys think about the 09's. I'm still looking to buy a KLR as my first bike and trying to figure out whether i should get a brand new 09 or look around for one used. I'm thinking I can prolly get a better financing deal through the dealer, and the 09's look pretty sweet, but are there really any improvements to the 2009 model?

09 Klr

Just bought my 09 a month ago. I am also riding 07 FZ6. I really like the KLR. I have ridden road and off road. Fun factor off the dial. Tall bike, but I am 6'3". The bike really fits me well. No complaints so far. I did the Kawasaki revolving credit deal. 6.9% for first 24 months. Got to pay off within 24 or get nailed with big interest.

There was a major change in the 08's from the 07's, (not sure of changes in the 09's). Some like the changes and some don't, I'm sure if you do a search you can find all the changes and judge for yourself if the changes benefit you.
The 87-07's were/are almost the same bike with a different color plastics, so you could pick up a decent used bike and save a lot of $$, but then you are buying used and don't know the history of the bike.
It all boils down to what YOU want, and what best fits YOUR needs.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life.

I am 5'10" as well and I would say that I'm at my outer limit with the height on the KLR. It's really about your inseam and at 31", that's it for me.

Many riders go with the lowering kit....

The tallness of the bike does not matter that much on the pavement, but I assume it would work you to death on the dirt. I haven't done any serious off road on mine, and probably will not. When I get of the KLR and get on my FZ6, I feel like I am on a mini-bike.

Ha. I just did an hour or so on La Roja Grande then got on my wife's Buell to just take it around the block. Felt like the clown on the little tricycle.
