I did it...traded for a 2008 KLR650

Well, today, I traded my 2005 SV650S for a 2008 KLR650 with 10092 miles as a straight swap. Title for title.

It hadn't been started in 6 months and sitting in his garage. Started it up and drove it to my house. He had a standing drop onto the right side and busted the lower fairing panel at it's mounts. I checked to make sure there wasn't any other damage behind the fairing and there wasn't. There's barely a few scratches from the fall.

It also needs the recall work done on the rear turn signals. He had already taken it in for the muffler recall work.

It runs fine and has good rubber. Before he parked it, everything worked. When he started it up today, the headlights didn't cut on. I'm going to look at the fuses and start troubleshooting. The bike will clean up fine.

Will a Kawa dealer do the recall work even if I'm not the original owner? I'm going to start looking for a used panel before I buy a new one.

Any common issues with the headlight relay/electricals that I should be aware of?

As soon as I figure out how to upload images, I'll show a picture of it.

Next will be figuring out where to ride around here. We moved down from SW Virginia last August.

Create an account at photobucket.com then upload your pictures to there. Once uploaded, have the forum open and your album on photobucket opened. You then find the pic you want to post and click on the IMG option under the picture, this copies it, then here in your post you just right click and paste. Do a preview of your post and make sure the pic posted correctly. I also found out you can adjust the size of your pictures uploaded to photobucket, I use the 1024x768 option on photobucket, this makes a really nice big picture to see. Make sure to have the size option set before you upload. Hope this helps...

Rickyp3278, we moved from Rural Retreat which is one hour south of Roanoke on I81. Lots of twisties up there! My ride home was always a blast!

I've gotta find a few fun places to ride down here. I'm trying to find a 125 enduro for my 11yo son so that we can ride together.

Everyone, I found the link to the list of known issues with the KLR. The bulbs had burnt out about 100 miles ago and were replaced. Now I'd bet it's the fuse. I'll check it out as soon as I get time.

I've never had the problem and I don't know if it applies to an O8, but several posts have reported that a slow switch between hi/lo beams will allow both to be on at once popping the fuse.
