08 and 09 body work ....

hey guys. new to the site. you can read a little about my klr exprience in the new member introduction section. anyway ... im wondering how fragile the side panels are on the 08 and 09 bikes ? i had a 94 650 and that thing took a beating and the only think that ever broke was the rad air scoop on the left side. are the new bikes way more street oriented ? are the new side panels a hard plastic that will break if dropped on its side or more flexible like a front fender is ?? thanks guys, scott

Yep, not too much flex in the new panels...crash bars are a must and pay for themselves with the first drop.
