Didn't know where to put this because it involves a ride, keeping your guard up, and general motorcycle related discussion. Feel free to move it.
Gorgeous day today, so I did a 3 hour ride up in the twisties around Muir Beach/Woods and up to Stinson beach and beyond (if you know the area...if not, right on the coast, awesome).
Saw a guy on a hog with one of them 'german' fake helmets. I thought...what a pu$$y, wearing a helmet, but fortunately he was man enough to leave the straps hanging. Dumbass.
Saw a LOT of bikes. I would say 80% were dual sports. Lots of beemers. Chilled with a cool guy with a sweet old Suzuki DR650.
Forgot my earplugs and bought more...interesting, I find that I am much more comfortable riding on every level with earplugs. More confident in turns. More comfortable with speed. I guess wind noise is intimidating.
Here is the never let your guard down part. It was warm so I had my visor cracked MAYBE a 1/4 inch on one side and then it tapered down going across. Felt nice. Until a ****ing bee somehow made it through that tiny crack and I was suddenly going 60 through the twists with a bee in my helmet. Luckily, my first thought was, "you are riding a motorcycle. if the bee stings you, it stings you, just ride." flipped up the visor and he skeedaddled. But I think I will probably not crack my visor in bee territory anymore.
Had a sweet ride. Man the gripster kicks ass. And man I like motorcycles.
I was sick for a few weeks, so this was my first long ride in a while.
