Aluminum Throttle Tube

Anybody using an Aluminum Throttle Tube??

Pro's / Con's

Okay to use grip heaters with them?

klr4evr,
The Biggest Question I have is, "What brand of aluminum throttle tube did You find to fit What generation of KLR650"??
Used to be an un-obtainium part!

Of course you may use grip heaters on an aluminum tube!

Thanks PD for asking that question. Going back and looking I notice that these aluminum tubes are 2008 and up. My bike is a Gen 1 so that narrows it down. Didn't stop to think that there may be a difference. Looks similar but ....

with bark busters, I've never damaged a plastic throttle tube.......without them, I've seen many shattered.

Found this but not sure if still available or correct:

I ordered a Motion Pro throttle tube online and was sent part# 01-0083.

Looks like this:

I haven't taken my throttle totally apart but from memory having looked inside I don't think the above is the correct part.

I think it should look more like this: Motion Pro 01-0094

Anybody know the correct replacement and Motion Pro part number??

Regrettably your gonna' have to take the throttle assy apart, and have a look see.
I think the Gen 1 has a larger diameter 'pulley' like pic #1, but needs to be for 2 cables, unless you remove the 'closer cable'.
Which could be possible, because a throttle butterfly can't vacuum stick.

Did you end up finding the proper one for the Gen 1? I need one too.

Only found what is linked in post #5 above. The MotionPro tube I ordered turned out to be incorrect. I contacted MotionPro and they siad they didn't have a tube for the KLR.

You can get them from KAwasaki but they will come with a grip attached. How silly is that??!!

Super silly. So, did you end up just purchasing one from the dealer? How much? Would it be worth just getting the aluminum throttle tube at 50$?
