Is this price fair?

Hello, I'm a new rider with my heart set on a KLR650. I have found one right in my neighborhood, but the price seems kind of steep, though I'm not sure the worth of stated upgrades. Can anyone tell me if this price seems reasonable for a 2007 KLR650 with this description? (I can't post links yet) newyork.craigslist.org/brk/mcy/d/2007-klr-650-for-sale-or-trade/6322888969.html

Quote:
Last year of this body style. New rear progressive shock and front springs. Fork brace. Highway pegs. Replaced the doohicky (lookup klr doohicky on Google). New shinko tires (maybe 400 miles on them). New front fender (still have old one if you want it)

The bike has a little less then 4000 miles on it. All the fluids have been changed, it is like a time capsule. Rides brand new but 10 years old.

Want to sell for $4500
I messaged him and he said the lowest he could go was 4200, still seems about 1k off to me, looking for others to validate or invalidate my gut feeling.

I paid $2,000 for mine and then bought all the stuff/farkels that I wanted and I'm still under $3,000. Here in southern California typical asking prices for low milage Generation 1 (up to 2007) KLR650's run from $2,500 - $3,500. Those with asking prices over about $3,000 seem to remain for sale for a long, long, long time. I'd guess that most sell in the $1,500 to $2,500 range. Your seller seems to be overly impressd with his bike.

Nice thanks for the replies. Wasn't sure what the work he did was worth.

Cheers!

Well, it's worth what someone will pay but yes, that's a little steep.

I recently sold a 2006, 18k miles, nice condition, Doo done, heated grips, rear box, LED light (that works)...$2950
Also, just bought a 2017 with 5 miles: $5995

The price is high. That said, the 2007 is a great bike and it does have low miles.

I would be at around 3k if the bike looks really really mint. Personally, I'd take off a little because I'm not a fan of that windshield mod.

Find out what rear shock he put on there. If it is a top end aftermarket, add a few hundred $$.

Remember that if it has been sitting and needs new tires, chain, hoses, carb overhaul and then you want to add panniers, skid plate, better brakes, lights, crash bars, barkbusters etc... that all adds up to a few thousand $$ and it might just make sense to buy a new bike or a later model that someone has already farkled out.

Here's one in L.A.

For the difference in price you could fly round trip from NYC to LAX, pay to have this bike shipped back home . . . . and you'd still be money ahead!

. . . . and the fairing hasn't been F-d up either!

I'd say that price is way too high for an 07. Low 3K's would be a better price for this bike, even high 2K's
