Hi guys and girls, just new to the forum. I'am currently doing a resto on an 84 KLR600, all is going well so far but the muffler is a bit crappy. Just wanting to know if a later model one will fit ?

K part #s 18002-1454 / 18002-1596 / 18002-1597 should fit the 1984, 85 & 86 KL600's.

I have no way to know if the mid-pipe size of a 600 header pipe will fit a 650 muffler. I can only suggest that the muffler to frame mounting of a 650 muffler appears to be in similar location, from what can be viewed on a parts screen.

Not the original muffler! Might want to consider an aftermarket muffler and mid pipe. Even if a newer stock muffler will fit it seems like folks get close to new aftermarket prices for used original mufflers on eBay and Craigs List.

Found a place that does a aftermarket slip on muffler FMF exhausts $329 usd. They have a nice note and not too loud.
