Howdy to all. I'm going to buy a KLR in the next month. I've seen one for sale in my town for $5500. It is on 08 model with 8000 miles on it and has the following add ons:

Laminar Lip for stock windshield
Givi Top Case - 52
SW-Motech Engine Guards
SW-Motech-Racks for sidecases/adapter kit
SW-Motech Alu-Rack Topcase Adapter Plate
SW-Motech Alu-Rack Toprack
Highway pegs/Clamp kit
SW-Motech Handlebar risers (20 mm (0.8")
SW-Motech Centerstand
Corbin Seat - Flat Dual Sport
RAM Mount
Gerbing plug for heated gear

Is this a decent deal or shoul I just pay the same price for a new stock bike? Thanks much.....can't wait to get on the road!

Fortgot to add the bike has been garaged kept and appears to be in very good condition. Not sure if that is a lot of miles for this tipe of scooter.

An 08 with 8k miles hasen't sat much.. not that it would hurt anything at all if maintained correct.. with the accessories may be fair.. but if you shop around you can get Brand New for 55 or less out the door sometimes under 5K.. I would say if you are happy with the upgrades and the price go for it..

There is something to be said for having a 'new' bike but if you intend to add a bunch of mods and aftermarket parts they are expensive. I paid $5300 for an 06 in January of 06 and then dumped in a couple thousand bucks (see my signature) in October of 07 we bought a used 05 with 8K miles for my wife for $3800. The used 05 has more stuff than my 06 and has been a great bike so I say offer $4800 and see if he takes the offer.

Spinning / flashing LED tail light;Dished seat;Nerf Bars;Panniers and rack;Aluminum skid pan;Master cylinder guard;tall shield;Heated gel grips;Acerbis Rally Pro guards with spoilers;Superbike low front fender;Doo upgrade;16T counter sprocket; K&N filter and box mod;GPS mount;Dash with voltage meter & clock;1" raising links;T bypass mod;anti vibe bars;anti vibe mirror mounts;Euro light switch; Aluminum choke leaver;new dry cell Super battery;Mefo Expolere's;New bearings and races

Yep, it all depends if the add-ons are something you would want and eventually pay for. If you want to keep it simple, I think you can do better.

Thanks guys. It seemed a little high to me, but I certainly want to add the add ons that the fellow has listed....just not sure if 8,000 miles is considered high for a bike. A few months ago a local dealer was offering a new bike for just a hair over 5k out the door. That was very attractive, but alas I did not have the cash in hand. Thanks much for the feed back.
