Sidestand kickstand lean

2002 KLR. It seems to me the bike leans way too much when on sidestand. I read others that say the stock sidestand puts bike too vertical. The sidestand installed on my bike measures 11" in length. Is this stock? The previous owner had lowering links on it that I replaced with stock. It seems that with any weight in bags or top would be too much for Sidestand. Any help thx! See pics

Someone shortened the original sidestand.

OEM stand measures 7 & 1/4 inches from the top of the pad to the center of the lower spring pin. Yours looks about 5 & 3/4 inches.

I measure OEM Gen 1 at 12 inches from floor to pivot bolt center, parallel to stand. So I guess they cut out an inch.

When the bike was lowered, the sidestand had to be shortened....

And . . . don't worry about weight overloading (increasing lean angle) of kickstand. Extra weight lowers suspension, actually STRAIGHTENING the bike vertically.
