Catalytic Converters??

While reading my owners manual, it states my 2018 KLR has a converter.. Anyone know when they started this? Also, is it inside the muffler? I don't see one in the head pipe anywhere.

It's in the muffler; I think they started in 2010 or so...

It has a Cat? where is it so I can take it off! In SC we have to inspection, my jeep cat rattled like a maraca.

That's an old thread and there were no cats in 2009. More reading;

Disclaimer; I've not cut apart or otherwise have seen a catalytic converter inside a 2010+ KLR muffler. I believe the person mentioned in the thread is Eaglemike and I trust his word without question......I'll ask him again to make sure. In the meantime maybe it's about time for someone with a 2011 or newer KLR muffler to sacrifice it to the information gods so we can see a pic of the elusive critter.
