Agree with 'most everything said on this thread!
True, the Defense Department conducts DEVELOPMENTAL (in design and production) and OPERATIONAL (in the hands of GIs in the field) testing before a system is TYPE CLASSIFIED (finally, design and specifications frozen, and the product authorized for full production and issue to troops). These tests may involve DURABILITY and RELIABILITY tests to the point of system failure.
Consider, however, the TIMING--the tests mentioned are performed in the FORMATIVE PERIOD of the item; NOT, as in the "Zombie Apocalypse" video, at the END of its production life cycle.
Thus, the, "Zombie Apocalypse" video appears to be a form of SACRIFICIAL ENTERTAINMENT (not that there's anything wrong with that, to some), to me, rather than purposeful, legitimate testing.
Otherwise: Let us now perform TORTURE TESTS on World War II SHERMAN TANKS!
Thanks for sharing the video, Voyager; interesting and thought provoking; drawing some worthwhile posts from forum inmates!
