I know it seems like a small farkel but between my old man's gut and my jacket zippers I decided I needed a tank protector. I looked at a bunch of alternatives and the Krono Parts 5 piece tank protector set provided the most coverage for the least cost at $30 for the whole set, which is about 1/3 of what a Tech Spec set with the same pieces would cost. It went on easy and looks even better than I expected. I was very pleased with the quality when they arrived. It's made out of 4mm porous rubber feels like it will last longer than I will.

This will be a fun one (month of Sept): 2005 Gen 1
Installed the 685 kit with the significant gracious help and counselling from Eagle Mike. Love it, love it, love it. Did I mention I love it???
Installed Leo Vince exhaust (see "love it" above).
New parabellum tall windshield.
Installed Dirtracks full engine guard.
Installed new Mylers (sp?) radiator.
Changed to Rotella T4 15W-40 from regular KLR oil.
Installed new LED headlight.
Installed headlight guard.
Installed LED taillight board (flashes for a second before full brake light comes on).
Began to procure parts to add a kickstarter.
Most important is that I fell in love with working on and riding the KLR again (my BMW is sad).
