Buying used

I love the idea of knowing every kilometer on my bike. However I have found a used 2015 in really great shape loaded with accessories including DooHickey and tbob with 9000km(55xxmiles) .
I guess my question is, is 9000km alot for a KLR?

90,000km is not a lot for a KLR. 9,000 is nothing. That's a good week's worth of riding. First two oil changes.

Ask to inspect the air filter. It needs to be Thoroughly Oiled. I wouldn't mind if it was oily dirty, that would be proof that it was well oiled.

An engine could be in need of a rebuild if it has had improper air filter servicing even once in those 9000km. But could normally last 10-20 times that, with proper air filter servicing.

Look at the bottom forward section of the air cleaner box, ahead of the heat shield to check for exhaust melting of the air box near the exhaust joint.
Look at the engine oil drain plug area for leakage or epoxy repair of damage. Never, ever forget the drain plug gasket!!!

Have you read this,yet?
