2018 fuel miledge very bad, my fault
So, I have, posted questions, and asked for help and got great responses. on this forum, very nice people.
All the problems I have had with my 2018 is what I have caused. ( I man up on all that)
I do 70/30 and or 80/20 on road vs gravel roads and grass and light stuff.
SO, I put on the 17 tooth front sprocket around 500-600, miles to lower my rpms. As I am use to a street bike rpm. the Hlry-long stroke ive ,had a few. (mine is a grocery getter, and tar baby KLR.)
I drive this little doggy` like I stole it and it don't complain.
I just got 173!!!! miles out of a tank of 87 octain, running it hardish, for the day and had to hit reserve.
Hard, again meaning at the highest front sprocket, 17, and driving hard on flat, roads with a goodish head wind. im 170lbs, and full helmet and jacket. so that is wind resistance. With the crash bars and the tusk square bags, adds a lot of wind resistance.
( is this normal)
im not complaining , I just don't want to run out of gas. but want to keep the rpms low, as that's what im used to.
It is going to be warm hear in northern MN for the next few days. So I will try and behave and keep it at a 2-3 mph over the speed limit and see what it douse with wind and no wind.
( and report back) that means 55ish -60ish on highway.
