What are your plans for next summer? Are you riding? Where are you going? Will it really happen????

"Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain.
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun."

I'm definitely riding out to Santa Fe, NM. Haven't chosen a route yet, but am thinking of going through far Western Oklahoma to try to find the site of a gas-drilling rig I worked on about 40 years ago. After Santa Fe, heading up to Cortez, CO and will work my way back East across Southern Colorado on Hwy 160 where I'll need to keep a keen eye out for runaway chicken trucks on Wolf Creek Pass..............

Planning on a cross-county trip on the TAT. Starting at Liberty State Park in NJ and riding to the Pacific coast via Oregon. Coming back through the Colorado Rockies. Hitting pavement on the east side of the Rockies. We have five weeks set aside (last week in July and all of August) for this.

I have done cross country before on my Harley, this will be a completely different animal. To say I'm excited would be a major understatement!

I'm trying to get my ducks in a row to do the TAT around the same time you guys are next year. The plan right now is to start from Boston and get to Lawrenceville PA and take the MABDR down to Damascus and start the official trail there. I would like to rent a uhaul and start in NC but, just with an initial look into that option, it looks really expensive. I have thought about riding down to CT and taking the ferry to orient point and starting where you are starting, but I'm not all that keen on riding through NYC. Still trying to decide.

Do you have any idea if you are going to take Sams tracks or Kevins tracks or both? Are you going to go through Nevada or Idaho? Have you decided on tires?

I'm excited as all get out myself!

The Outback Trip!

End of March a mate from France is flying in to Sydney - I'll have bought and set up a 2nd KLR for him by then - a week to acclimatise here in the Blue Mountains where I live (lots of fire-trails and dirt roads) then off for a 5 weeker….
Heading west - Dubbo > Cobar > White Cliffs (underground living and opal mining)> Mutawintji National Park > Broken Hill > west a little more to exit New South Wales and into South Australia then heading north to the Flinders Ranges and Wilpena Pound > Lake Eyre > find an Outback cattle station for a few days r&r >Birdsville > then ??? tbd.....ending up at Cameron's Corner (where 3 states meet) before heading S.E back through Queensland to Sydney.

Or something like that..... we'll be pretty fluid!0:)
