High mileage?

Hi,
I am looking at an 04 KLR 650 with 25 000km and am wondering what I need to look for on a bike with this mileage. How many miles do these bikes go if maintained properly? Any weak points on the 04? Anything else I need to be aware of?
Thanks everyone.

I had an '03 with 64,000 plus miles on it when it was stolen. It used no oil and ran great, I did do a valve job at about 63k miles. When I pulled the head there was minimal ring ridge and the cylinder looked very good.

My current KLR is a 2000 with just over 70K on it. No mechanical issues whatsoever. I checked/adjusted the valves twice, and it burns no oil and runs great. I have nothing but praise for this bike.

As for what to look for:
- the doohickey
- regular oil change history
- valves checked (maybe not high priority)
- general bike condition. It is clean? Does it look like the PO cared for it?

That's all I can think of. Good luck!

I'd actually rather see that kind of mileage on a bike like this...at least someone has been riding it. Depends on the bike, but I saw a KLR today that I swear had 400K miles on it. Rusty. Dusty. Broken plastic. Looked ready to roll. Made me smile.

Doesn't sound like too much to me. But then, I'm a simpleton.

Oh yeah, and I never buy anything used with shit cracked tires. Either it was owned by one more simple than I or they were too cheap to change them for sale. Either one is sketchy in my book (and it's easy to check)
