'09 KLR Purchase Biggest Mistake I've Made!

I sold my '06 DL1000 and bought a used '09 KLR because for years I thought I really wanted a KLR. I wanted something more suitable for dirt roads, fire roads, and such. Well, now I got what I wanted and I see nothing but trouble for me in the future. Top box, aluminum panniers, more camping shit, gas, tires, more gas, more tires. Can you see where I'm going with this? I have responsibilities that must be met. I have a wife, a home, kids, grandkids, etc. How in the hell am I going to be able to keep myself spread this thin? This KLR is going to be my evil undoing! Next time I'll think it through before just jumping into something like this............................................NO T!

Sorry to hear this Stephen. The DL1000 and the KLR650 are good bikes and I can feel your pain. I recently sold the DL1000 and I miss it though not enough to buy another. Shortly after I sold my DL I found two very nice DL's and the price was very good. Keep checking and maybe you can find something to buy sell trade with. Best to you.

If you lived somewhere to put the KLR to use it would be different but Arkansas. All you have down there are gravel roads, fire trails and water crossings. Try to suffer through it.

I feel your pain. I've taken the 12 step program and learned to live with it.

Think of a really nice $10,000 bike. Start adding 5 grand worth of stuff.
Stop at three thousand and you'll be ahead!!!!

It's a great feeling to know that so many here are sympathetic to my plight. I knew I could find some understanding and love here. Now I just have to figure out what to tell my wife when she asks why that brown truck keeps stopping out front.
